About The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead / Solutions Architect to take technical ownership of Capture Cloud, our cloud platform powering battery energy storage solutions (BESS). You'll define and drive our cloud architecture using modern tools like Azure, .NET, React/Next.js, and play a key role in transitioning from outsourced development to a high-performing in-house team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape scalable, secure systems, bridge business needs with technical execution, and help us build smarter, greener energy solutions.

In this role, you’ll not only design scalable, cloud-native software architecture but also actively contribute to backend development, mentor developers, and work across the stack when needed.

This is a builder’s role — ideal for someone who combines strong software development experience with architectural thinking and enjoys turning ideas into working, production-grade software. You’ll play a key role in shaping our platform from the ground up as we scale from outsourced development to a high-performing in-house team.

You’ll use modern technologies like .NET/C#, React/Next.js, Azure Cloud, and work closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to build smart, reliable, and secure software that enables the energy system of the future.

Work assignments and key responsibilities

Design Scalable Cloud Architecture

• Lead the design and implementation of robust, cloud-native, backend-heavy architecture for the Capture Cloud platform using Azure, .NET/C# and modern frontend frameworks like React/Next.js.
• Define modular, maintainable solutions using domain-driven design and scalable service-oriented patterns.

Develop and Integrate APIs and Microservices

• Architect and develop RESTful APIs and backend services to support seamless integration between microservices, frontend applications, and BESS platforms.
• Take ownership of core business logic, data access layers, and integrations, ensuring clear domain boundaries.
• Work with relational, time-series, and cloud-native datbases to design performant, scalable data flows and storage strategies.

Define Technical Roadmaps and Best Practices

• Establish architecture standards, software development best practices, and long-term technical strategies aligned with our product roadmap.
• Guide platform evolution with a strong focus on testability, maintainability, security, and performance.

Collaborate Across Teams and Stakeholders

• Work closely with Product Management, UX/UI Design, and business stakeholders to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Clearly communicate architectural decisions across both technical and non-technical audiences.

Lead Internal Technical Development

• Provide mentorship and leadership to developers, promoting high code quality, test automation, and DevOps practices within the internal tech team.
  

Implement Cloud Infrastructure and CI/CD Pipelines

• Use Azure services, Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and resilient system operation.

Optimize System Performance and Security

• Ensure the Capture Cloud platform meets expectations for performance, availability, and data security — especially in high-uptime, distributed BESS environments.

Skills and Qualifications

• Cloud Architecture: Proven experience designing and implementing application and backend-heavy scalable cloud solutions, ideally on Microsoft Azure.
• Software Development: Strong, hands-on experience in .NET/C#; experience working with relational and time-series databases; and working knowledge of React or Next.js for cross-functional collaboration.
• Product Mindset: Ability to balance short-term product needs with long-term architecture vision.
• API & Microservices: Deep knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices, distributed systems, and system integration.
• Security Best Practices: Solid understanding of security best practices, identity/access management, and system reliability in cloud environments.
• DevOps & Infrastructure-as-Code: Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Terraform, and Azure DevOps as part of end-to-end product delivery – supporting development, not as a primary role.
• Cross-functional Communication: Ability to bridge business needs with technical execution and clearly communicate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical Leadership: Experience mentoring developers, guiding code quality, driving engineering best practices, and leading by doing.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years in solution architecture roles with backend and full-stack experience — ideally within SaaS, cloud platforms, or energy tech.
• Experience working in startups or scale-ups is a plus.
