Founded in 2023, Capture Energy is a fast-growing company with 41 team members across the Nordics and Spain. Our ambition is to lead the Nordic and European market in battery energy storage — an area experiencing rapid growth as grids decarbonize and electrification surges.

About The Role
Are you passionate about designing and implementing cutting-edge automation and control systems for energy management? Capture Energy is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to drive technological leadership in battery energy storage solutions. In this role, you’ll develop scalable automation platforms, integrate third-party services, and support our operations team in delivering reliable, real-time control for our Capture Controller and BESS fleet. If you have a strong background in PLC programming (especially Beckhoff systems), industrial network configuration, and system integration, we’d love to hear from you.
Work assignments and Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain automation and control systems for the Capture Controller and other platforms.
- Program control systems, including PLCs (with a strong preference for Beckhoff), HMI/SCADA, and potentially Go for backend or integration tasks. 2. System Integration & Scalability
- Integrate third-party services (e.g., fast chargers, sensors, monitoring tools) into the Capture Controller.
- Develop scalable solutions to support future products and energy systems. 3. Network Configuration & Cybersecurity
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks.
- Define and enforce cybersecurity measures for automation systems. 4. Testing, Commissioning, and Technical Support
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and plant follow-up.
- Provide technical support for operations, including field support and SAT testing. 5. Requirements Definition & Documentation
- Define requirements and structure for the Capture Cloud.
- Document software and features for the Capture Controller. 6. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Suggest improvements to processes and systems.
- Collaborate with the Technology team, Operations & Services, as well as Product & Delivery team

Skills and Qualifications
- 🎓 BSc or MSc in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field
- 💻 Experience with PLC programming, preferably using Beckhoff (TwinCAT)
- 🔤 Proficiency in Go programming language is a plus
- 🌐 Understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, OPC UA)
- 🧩 Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-world environments
- 🗂️ Ability to maintain structured documentation and manage configuration changes
- ✈️ Willingness to travel to project sites across the Nordics and Europe
- 🤝 Team player with a proactive, learning-oriented mindset
