Founded in 2023, Capture Energy is a fast-growing company with 31 team members across the Nordics. Our ambition is to lead the Nordic and European market in battery energy storage — an area experiencing rapid growth as grids decarbonize and electrification surges.

About The Role
We’re looking for an Automation Engineer to join our growing team at Capture Energy. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the delivery of our battery energy storage systems from design through to operation – including testing, commissioning, and ongoing service. You’ll be the bridge between engineering and operations, sometimes representing the team on-site when needed.
This role is well-suited for someone who wants to learn and grow in the sustainable energy transition space. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and gain exposure to real-world energy systems, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time.
Work assignments and Key responsibilities
- Participate in design reviews for control systems and automation architecture
- Prepare and configure PLC/HMI software (primarily Beckhoff)
- Ensure smooth handover from engineering to operations
- Support testing, commissioning, and validation of automation systems
- Perform site acceptance tests (SATs) and remote diagnostics
- Travel to sites to provide hands-on technical support during delivery and service
- Act as technical point of contact for operations and service teams
- Troubleshoot automation-related issues and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain system performance and support uptime improvements
- Maintain and update automation configurations and documentation
- Ensure version control and traceability of changes to control systems
- Contribute to long-term maintainability of delivered systems
- Uphold safety, cybersecurity, and reliability standards in automation solutions
- Ensure compliance with Capture Energy’s technical and quality requirements
- Coordinate with suppliers and partners to resolve technical issues
- Identify process improvements based on project and field learning
- Provide structured feedback to engineering and product development teams
- Help shape internal tools, standards, and best practices

Skills and Qualifications
- 🎓 BSc or MSc in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field
- 💻 Experience with PLC programming, preferably using Beckhoff (TwinCAT)
- 🌐 Understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, OPC UA)
- 🔧 Hands-on experience with testing, commissioning, and site acceptance of automation systems
- 🧩 Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-world environments
- 🗂️ Ability to maintain structured documentation and manage configuration changes
- ✈️ Willingness to travel to project sites across the Nordics and Europe
- 🤝 Team player with a proactive, learning-oriented mindset
